The Problem

“Teachers were increasingly exposed to AI tools without structured training on how to use them ethically, effectively or pedagogically.”

A growing gap across the Dominican Republic

  • No structured AI training for public-sector educators at national scale
  • Urban-rural divide in access to digital capacity-building
  • No guidance on bias, misinformation, privacy or academic integrity
  • Risk of deepening inequalities between technical and non-technical education tracks

Context: ENIA Presidential Decree 498-23 mandated AI training for public educators — DocencIA was the program that answered that call.

Educators Are Already Applying It

Within weeks of completing DocencIA, educators began applying AI to real tasks in their schools. These are documented examples.

📋

Administrative Report Automation

Politécnico Felipe Soriano Bello · Constanza

Principal Francisco Capellán designed ChatGPT prompts to automate institutional reports that previously required hours of manual writing. Using NotebookLM, his team now queries school regulations and gets precise answers in minutes instead of hours.

Result: Significant reduction in administrative time, faster decision-making and better compliance with education policies.
📚

AI-Powered Language Teaching

Politécnico Antonio Figaris Báez · Villa Mella

English teacher Francisca Vizcaíno uses Perplexity to design dynamic vocabulary games, and ChatGPT to generate custom evaluations, bar charts and progress reports for students.

Result: Higher student engagement, personalized feedback, and data-driven instructional decisions — all with AI tools.
